Sopra Steria Limited is recruiting a Senior Network Engineer for an on-site role in Farnborough. You will design, build, deploy and support enterprise Cisco networks, including routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points, in a defence-focused environment requiring DV clearance.

The role emphasizes proactive monitoring, incident handling, and delivering against SLAs while collaborating with customers and teams.

Qualifications

• Experience with design, build, deployment and support of enterprise networks.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ACLs and related network technologies.
• Experience with Cisco solutions and willingness to pursue certification.
• ITIL framework experience and strong customer service skills.

Are you a Network Engineer with hands on experience delivering Cisco solutions? Sopra Steria are currently recruiting for Senior Network Engineers with experience in Cisco (Routers, Switches, Firewalls & Wireless Access Points) for to support with a unique opportunity within our Aerospace, Defence and Security sector. You will be responsible for assisting with the design, build, deployment and support of our enterprise leading edge networks, responding to operational requirements in support of rapid defence activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Engineer to continue to learn and develop in a high specialised environment. This role is based on site in Farnborough. Due to the nature of the client, we are only able to progress with sole British nationals eligible for DV clearance.

What you'll be doing:

• Assist with the design, build, deployment and support of our enterprise leading edge networks
• Responding to operational requirements in support of rapid defence activities
• Providing support to strategic projects ensuring they meet predefined objectives
• Proactive monitoring and maintenance of all production systems
• Building and maintaining relationships with our customers, partners and teams
• Working within a team to deliver against SLA's and XLA's
• Leading or supporting investigations into complex service problems, recommending solutions and following procedures to plan, test and implement proposed solutions
• Providing support to the team
• Identifying opportunities for innovation and continual service improvement
• Handling support tickets
• Contributing to DevOps and automation adoption, building skills in tools such as ansible and terraform
• Ensure corporate governance and security standards are adhered to by the team

What you'll bring:

• Experience working with Cisco products and a willingness to achieve certification.
• Experience working within an ITIL Environment
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco solutions (Routers, Switches, Firewalls & Wireless Access Points)
• Knowledge and skills with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ACL's and other network enabling technologies
• Excellent customer service skills

It would be great if you had:

• Experience managing and troubleshooting firewalls and other security devices
• Experience with Cisco Unified Communications (UC)
• Experience configuring, supporting, troubleshooting SDN technologies such as Cisco ACI or VMware NSX
• Working understanding of Cloud networking solutions and principles i.e. (Azure Networking, AWS networking)
• Use of automation tooling such as Ansible and Terraform
• Experience in programming/scripting (BASH, Python, PowerShell, etc)

• Experience working with Cisco products and a willingness to achieve certification.
• Experience working within an ITIL Environment
