Job summary

Sopra Steria in Salisbury is seeking a Cisco Network Engineer to design, deploy and support enterprise network solutions in defence environments. You will gain exposure to routing, switching, firewalls, wireless and ISE, with opportunities to grow skills in automation and SDN.

Onsite five days a week, you’ll join a collaborative team committed to continuous learning and professional development while delivering secure, mission-critical network services.

Qualifications

• Willingness to achieve CCNA/CCNP with company support.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and wireless APs.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and ACLs.
• Experience in an ITIL environment.
• Eligibility to obtain Developed Vetting clearance.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, build, deployment and support of enterprise network solutions.
• Support operational requirements and respond to incidents in secure environments.
• Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot production network infrastructure.
• Investigate complex service issues and implement approved changes.
• Handle support tickets and contribute to service improvements.
• Support adoption of automation and IaC technologies.

As a Cisco Network Engineer, you'll join a collaborative and highly capable team delivering and supporting enterprise network services within critical defence environments. Working onsite in Salisbury five days a week, you'll become part of a team that values continuous learning, knowledge sharing and professional development.

You'll gain hands-on experience across routing, switching, firewalls, wireless networking and Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine), while also having opportunities to build skills in SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and automation technologies.

What you'll be doing:

• Assisting with the design, build, deployment and support of enterprise network solutions.
• Supporting operational requirements and responding to incidents within secure and mission-critical environments.
• Monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting production network infrastructure including routing, switching, firewall and wireless technologies.
• Investigating complex service issues, recommending solutions and implementing approved changes following established processes.
• Handling support tickets and contributing to continual service improvement initiatives.
• Supporting the adoption of automation and infrastructure-as-code technologies including Ansible and Terraform.

What you'll bring:

• A valid CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) certification, or a willingness to achieve certification with our support.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls and wireless access points.
• Knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, Domain Name System, Access Control Lists and other network-enabling technologies.
• Experience working within an Information Technology Infrastructure Library environment.
• Eligibility to obtain Developed Vetting clearance.

It would be great if you had:

• Experience with Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine).
• Experience managing and troubleshooting firewalls and other security devices.
• Knowledge of SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies such as Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure or VMware NSX.
• Working understanding of cloud networking solutions and principles.
• Experience using automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform.
• Experience with scripting or programming languages and network troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark.

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent.

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire, onsite 5 days per week.

Security Clearance Level: Active or eligibility for Security Check clearance and eligibility for Developed Vetting clearance.
