Job summary

Sopra Steria Limited in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Senior Network Engineer to design, build, deploy and support enterprise networks within a fast-paced Defence sector. Based on site in Farnborough, the role requires working with Cisco devices and delivering secure, scalable network solutions for critical projects.

Applicants should have hands-on Cisco experience, ITIL familiarity and a willingness to obtain relevant certifications; flexibility in working arrangements and collaboration

Qualifications

• Experience with Cisco products and willingness to obtain certification.
• Experience working within an ITIL environment.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design, build, deployment and support of enterprise networks.
• Respond to operational requirements in support of rapid defence activities.
• Provide support to strategic projects ensuring they meet predefined objectives.
• Proactively monitor and maintain production systems.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers, partners and teams.
• Work in a team to deliver against SLAs and XLAs.
• Lead or support investigations into complex service problems and implement solutions.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and continual service improvement.
• Handle support tickets and contribute to DevOps and automation adoption with tools like Ansible and Terraform.
• Ensure governance and security standards are adhered to by the team.

Job description

Engineers with experience in Cisco (Routers, Switches, Firewalls & Wireless Access Points) for to support with a unique opportunity within our Aerospace, Defence and Security sector. You will be responsible for assisting with the design, build, deployment and support of our enterprise leading edge networks, responding to operational requirements in support of rapid defence activities. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Engineer to continue to learn and develop in a high specialised environment. This role is based on site in Farnborough. Due to the nature of the client, we are only able to progress with sole British nationals eligible for DV clearance.

What you'll be doing:

• Assist with the design, build, deployment and support of our enterprise leading edge networks
• Responding to operational requirements in support of rapid defence activities
• Providing support to strategic projects ensuring they meet predefined objectives
• Proactive monitoring and maintenance of all production systems
• Building and maintaining relationships with our customers, partners and teams
• Working within a team to deliver against SLA's and XLA's
• Leading or supporting investigations into complex service problems, recommending solutions and following procedures to plan, test and implement proposed solutions

• Ensure corporate governance and security standards are adhered to by the team
• Experience working with Cisco products and a willingness to achieve certification.

• Hands-on experience with Cisco solutions (Routers, Switches, Firewalls & Wireless Access Points)
• Knowledge and skills with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ACL's and other network enabling technologies
• Excellent customer service skills

It would be great if you had:

• Experience managing and troubleshooting firewalls and other security devices
• Experience with Cisco Unified Communications (UC)
• Experience configuring, supporting, troubleshooting SDN technologies such as Cisco ACI or VMware NSX
• Working understanding of Cloud networking solutions and principles i.e. (Azure Networking, AWS networking)
• Use of automation tooling such as Ansible and Terraform
• Experience in programming/scripting (BASH, Python, PowerShell, etc)
