Job summary

Leidos in the UK is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support data centre hosted IT applications and infrastructure, with a focus on high availability and security. The role covers data centre, campus and WAN networking, including routing, switching, load balancing and firewalls, with opportunities to work remotely from UK sites.

• Experience with data centre and campus networking technologies.
• Excellent knowledge of routing, switching, load balancing and firewalls.
• Experience with Juniper networking is desirable.
• Experience with security-cleared environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Providing network engineering skills and produce low level designs as part of the delivery team.
• Work with delivery teams to implement modern, highly available, scalable networks using a range of new and emerging technologies including automation.
• Input into network management and acceptance aspects including setting standards and providing your technical expertise to Leidos programme teams.
• Utilise the concepts and principles of verification and validation to deliver relevant network designs.
• Collaborate with customers on all aspects of network management including the assurance and integration of infrastructure services to meet the needs of multiple lines of business.
• Recognise and exploit business opportunities by leveraging architecture and design best practice.
• Communicate effectively across organisational, technical and political boundaries, understanding the context.

The Role

Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer to support the development, transition & in-service running (including capability upgrades) of data centre hosted IT application and infrastructure solution providing support to a critical operational end user. The preferred candidate will demonstrate effective application of Network Engineering expertise and extensive knowledge across a variety of data centre, wide area, storage area and campus networking technologies: routing (dynamic protocols), switching, load balancing and firewalls.

The role will provide technical exposure variance across both outcomes-based project activities and operational (Business as Usual) support activities.

Your passions and experience will help you become a technical specialist and process owner with our operations support services including service improvement and add further value to our service offerings. You will be expected to contribute towards the creation and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation (HLDs, LLDs, Work Instructions) and provide material to support the project work or the operational support service.

We are looking for someone with a passion for Network Engineering, ideally from an enterprise data centre background. You will be self-motivated and be able to work autonomously to achieve day to day objectives with significant results on project or operational deliverables. Whilst also owning a variety of activities ensuring compliance with project milestones and customer KPIs and SLAs. You must be an effective communicator, comfortable directly engaging with customers and colleagues. You must also demonstrate an analytical and systematic approach to technical challenges.

What We Are Looking For

Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of data centre and campus networking technologies: Juniper (routing, switching, firewalls), Fortigate (Next Gen firewalls), F5 (global and local load balancing), encryption;

Strong understanding of routing protocols (static and dynamic) in data centre, campus and wide area networks; With a thorough understanding of BGP.
