Job summary

Penguin Random House in London is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join the Technology team on a permanent basis. You will work in the Integration team, focusing on C#/.NET, APIs and microservices, with cloud-based integration and event-driven architectures.

You will mentor other developers, promote solid engineering practices, and contribute to CI/CD and automated testing. Hybrid work is supported, with some travel to Colchester.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with C# and .NET, ASP.NET Core MVC and Web API development.
• Design and build REST APIs, microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering principles, including SOLID and clean architecture.
• Experience with Docker and containerisation, plus automated testing (xUnit or equivalent).
• Proficient in SQL Server and data access technologies; familiar with CI/CD and Git workflows.
• Experience implementing secure APIs using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Familiarity with Azure messaging and event-driven patterns (Service Bus, Kafka).
• Interest in mentoring developers and sharing knowledge across the team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and modernise integrations using C# / .NET, Azure Logic Apps and containerised microservices.
• Build and manage APIs to connect services across the technology landscape.
• Design secure, maintainable solutions following established engineering practices.
• Support event-driven architectures with Azure messaging technologies.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD, and Git-based development.
• Collaborate with Architects and other developers to craft effective solutions.
• Create and maintain technical and process documentation.
• Mentor colleagues, sharing knowledge on Azure Integration Services.
• Ensure solutions are secure, well maintained, and compliant.
