Job summary

Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a Senior/Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join the RAS/FAS Value Stream in Gateshead, UK. You will lead multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver mechanical solutions for naval deck machinery, RAS equipment, winches, reelers and cranes from concept to on-site installation.

The role requires a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, Chartered status (or working towards it), and proven experience in a regulated marine environment. Hybrid work arrangements are offered.

Qualifications

• BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartership.
• Experience in a highly regulated marine/offshore industry.
• Experience in concept through to in-service support.
• Proven track record leading technical delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of projects with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Develop mechanical solutions from requirements to product development and in-service support.
• Identify R&D and Continuous Improvement opportunities.
• Investigate safety and technical problems using structured problem solving.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments; approve inspections and tests.
• Create technical design appraisal documents for marine classifications.
