Job summary

Lloyd’s Register sets the standard for safety in naval design. This role focuses on the appraisal of fire and safety documentation for new construction naval projects, aligned with applicable standards and class rules.

The successful candidate will be based in a UK Technical Support Office (Aberdeen, Bristol, London or Southampton) as part of LR’s global technical support network. We expect a degree in engineering or physical science, professional membership, and progress toward Chartered or

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or physical sciences (or marine equivalent) recognized by Lloyd’s Register.
• Membership of an appropriate professional institution.
• Working toward Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
• Proficiency in English language and communication.

Responsibilities

• Review and appraise fire and safety plans for naval ships in accordance with statutory standards and class rules.
• Provide technical and regulatory guidance to stakeholders during design, construction and vessel life cycle.
• Perform appraisals and advise on fire and safety discipline within project constraints and contractual requirements.
• Possibly undertake project management, monitor progress and spend against budget and contract requirements.
• Conduct site visits to shipyards, client sites, testing laboratories or production facilities as required.
• Report incidents, near misses and safety observations to line management.
