Job description

Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced MSK Physiotherapist to join our expanding primary care MSK team in Barnet. Working within GP practices and under the clinical supervision of experienced FCPs, you will independently manage a varied caseload of MSK patients, deliver high-quality assessment and treatment, and contribute to service development initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for physiotherapists looking to further develop their primary care skills and career progression towards advanced practice roles.

This role specially offers supported progression towards First Contact Practitioner (FCP) competencies if desired, with structured supervision, funded CPD opportunities, and involvement in primary care innovations.

Primary Care Physio is England's largest independent specialist provider of first-contact primary care services. We are dedicated to supporting NHS Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and their GP practices by delivering high-quality, tech-enabled primary care FCP (First Contact Practitioner) solutions in Physiotherapy and Podiatry.

Our talented team of over 350 First Contact Physios, First Contact Podiatrists, and Advanced Practitioners is supported by experienced clinical supervisors, approved by Health Education England under the FCP Roadmap to Practice.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage MSK conditions using evidence-based practice.
  • Identify red flag symptoms and escalate cases appropriately.
  • Develop individualised rehab and management plans, promoting self-management.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation.
  • Tailor care to patient needs, considering health, well-being, and employment factors.
  • Facilitate patient self-management, minimising pharmacological interventions.
  • Deliver group and one-to-one patient education sessions.
  • Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis effectively.
  • Support patient decision-making and adherence in line with NICE guidelines.
  • Uphold clinical governance through audit, evaluation, supervision, and training.

Professional Collaboration & Development

  • Participate in clinical supervision and case discussions.
  • Engage in personal development, training, and competency completion.
  • Support student physiotherapist induction and mentoring.
  • Contribute to audits and service improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong working relationships within the PCN multidisciplinary team.
  • Promote MSK health initiatives across practices.

We are a non-bureaucratic, non-hierarchical, and highly supportive team dedicated to providing excellent primary care MSK services. Our "can-do" attitude and positive approach drive our passion for delivering exceptional care.

We take pride in offering unrivalled day-to-day peer support, continuing professional development (CPD), and training opportunities. Each team member benefits from 4 hours of protected supervision and CPD time per week, equivalent to 27 days annually, including a weekly one-on-one session with an HEE-approved FCP Supervisor.

Having mobilised over 200 PCN MSK services, we understand that transitioning to primary care for the first time can be daunting.
