Job summary

AECOM is seeking a senior Lead MLOps Engineer to own the ML platform roadmap, define standards, and lead production ML infrastructure across AI for Engineering. You will mentor engineers, build critical tooling and guide architecture decisions.

The role requires hands-on Python development, deployment, and strong cloud/containers experience, with a focus on reliability, cost and scale in production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Significant experience deploying, operating, monitoring and supporting machine learning systems in production, including ownership of an ML platform or major MLOps capability.
• Proven experience as a technical lead or in a senior/staff-level role, setting technical direction and influencing engineers without formal authority.
• Deep experience designing and owning ML pipelines, model deployment, serving, monitoring and lifecycle infrastructure.
• Strong Python skills, plus experience with web frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments (Azure).
• A track record of making architecture decisions and running complex production systems for reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the MLOps technical vision, platform roadmap and engineering standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineers through design reviews and code reviews.
• Architect and own production ML infrastructure for training, deployment, serving and monitoring at scale.
• Set standards for CI/CD, automation, model delivery and ML lifecycle management.
• Stay hands-on, building Python services, APIs and platform tooling for production ML workloads.
• Own reliability, observability, performance, availability, security and cost across production ML systems.
• Lead technical response to complex production issues across software, infrastructure and ML workflows.
