Job summary

The Voleon Group is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our Research team in London. You will translate research ideas into production-grade code, build data pipelines and modeling infrastructure, and contribute to scalable, high-performance ML systems driving our quantitative trading strategies.

Working at the intersection of Computer Science, Mathematics and Statistics, you will collaborate with PhD researchers, ensure correctness and reproducibility, and lead components from

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (CS, applied math, statistics) or related.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong CS fundamentals.
• Demonstrated mathematical maturity in statistics, linear algebra, optimization, and probability.
• Deep proficiency in Python; experience with R and/or C/C++ is a plus.
• Extensive experience with NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar libraries.
• Proven experience building or maintaining ML systems in a distributed computing environment.
• Proficiency developing in a Linux environment with focus on performance and reproducibility.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with researchers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with PhD researchers to design, implement, and productize ML models for quantitative trading strategies.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines including ingestion, feature engineering, validation, and monitoring.
• Translate research prototypes into production-grade, well-tested code.
• Build extensible tools and frameworks to accelerate model development and experimentation.
• Lead projects from requirements through delivery with a focus on long-term maintainability.
• Coordinate deployment efforts and guide junior engineers and researchers.
• Foster engineering consistency, standards, and best practices within Research.
