Job summary

The Opportunity Hub UK Ltd in Sheffield is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to design, build and deploy machine learning models into production systems. You will optimise models for performance and cost, and collaborate with data engineers to scale data pipelines.

You will translate business problems into ML approaches and contribute to technical standards within a well-resourced team, with a comprehensive benefits package and hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Solid commercial experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments.
• Strong Python skills and familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).
• Working knowledge of MLOps practices including model versioning, monitoring, and CI/CD for ML systems.
• Comfortable with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and data infra supporting ML work.
• Good communicator who can explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• Mid-level engineer who can work independently within an established structure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy ML models into production systems across the full lifecycle from data prep to monitoring.
• Optimize existing models for performance, accuracy and cost and decide when to retire a model.
• Collaborate with data engineers and platform teams to build pipelines for enterprise-scale data.
• Write clean, tested, maintainable code and review teammates’ work.
• Translate business problems into ML approaches understandable to non-engineers.
• Contribute to technical standards and best practices in the AI & Technology function.
