Job summary

UnderwriteMe Limited in London is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy advanced LLM-based and agentic systems that extract and reason over medical records and application data. You will own the evals and guardrails, collaborate with Product, Design, and Underwriting SMEs, and scale systems from prototype to production with a focus on latency, cost, and reliability.

Qualifications

6+ years in ML/AI with NLP/LLMs and agentic systems.
Hands-on experience with OpenAI/Anthropic APIs.
Experience with LLM observability tooling is a plus.
Strong Python and FastAPI for service development.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and AWS.

Responsibilities

Build, test, and deploy production LLM and agentic systems.
Own evals and guardrails to ensure quality and safety.
Design multi-step, tool-using workflows with state and human-in-the-loop review.
Lead innovative approaches in language understanding, extraction, and reasoning.
Collaborate with Product, Design, and Underwriting SMEs to align ML goals with product constraints.
Scale systems from prototype to production, optimizing latency and cost.
