Job summary

The Bedford College Group in Dunstable seeks a Senior MIS Officer to join the Student Registry. You will lead FE data quality, ensure funding compliance and audit readiness, and oversee timetabling data and enrolment records.

You will analyse data trends, drive improvements and collaborate with curriculum teams to support accurate data delivery and continuous improvement across the college.

Qualifications

  • Hold a relevant Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) with a commitment to maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional competence.
  • Experience of working accurately with data in a structured environment, with an understanding of data quality, compliance requirements and meeting deadlines.
  • Apply strong analytical, IT, organisational and problem‑solving skills to manage workloads effectively, maintain accuracy and support operational delivery.
  • Display professionalism, integrity and attention to detail, while communicating effectively and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monitoring and improvement of FE data quality, ensuring student and curriculum data is accurate, complete, compliant with funding rules, and audit ready.
  • Support audit preparation and funding compliance activities through data validation, evidence checking, issue resolution, and adherence to ILR requirements.
  • Oversee the production and maintenance of timetables, room allocations, registers and enrolment data, ensuring efficient and accurate operational delivery.
  • Analyse data trends and risks to support decision‑making, curriculum planning and target setting, while driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Work closely with curriculum teams, managers and MIS colleagues to provide guidance, maintain data standards, share best practice and support consistent delivery across the college.

Job description

Role: Senior MIS Officer

Location: Dunstable Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £29,361 and £34,394 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Senior MIS Officer to join our Student Registry department at The Bedford College Group.

  • FE Data Quality & Compliance - Lead the monitoring and improvement of FE data quality, ensuring student and curriculum data is accurate, complete, compliant with funding rules, and audit ready.
  • Audit & Funding Assurance - Support audit preparation and funding compliance activities through data validation, evidence checking, issue resolution, and adherence to ILR requirements.

  • Data Insight & Continuous Improvement-Analyse data trends and risks to support decision‑making, curriculum planning and target setting, while driving process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Support - Work closely with curriculum teams, managers and MIS colleagues to provide guidance, maintain data standards, share best practice and support consistent delivery across the college.
