Job summary

The Bedford Sixth Form is seeking a Teacher in Maths to join our Sixth Form department at The Bedford College Group. You will deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that develop students’ knowledge, skills and understanding, while supporting achievement, retention and academic success.

We are looking for a candidate with a relevant degree and teaching qualification, with current A Level teaching experience.

Qualifications

• Holds a relevant degree and teaching qualification, with current A Level teaching experience.
• Strong track record of success and up-to-date knowledge of subject content, curricula and teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with students and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that develop students’ knowledge, skills and understanding, while supporting achievement, retention and academic success.
• Plan and assess learning effectively, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate records of progress, and produce student reports.
• Contribute to curriculum development, organise enrichment activities and enhance the Sixth Form student experience.
• Motivate and inspire learners, participate in parents’ evenings and promotional events, and support the promotion of the Sixth Form and College.
• Support college-wide activities including exams and safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and CPD.

Job description

Role: Teacher – Maths

Location: The Bedford Sixth Form

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, Teacher’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.

Hours/Weeks: 18.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Fixed Term – Part Time – Fixed until 18 December 2026

About The Role

We are currently seeking a Teacher in Maths to join our Sixth Forms department at The Bedford College Group.

• Teaching & Student Achievement - Deliver engaging, high-quality lessons that develop students’ knowledge, skills and understanding, while supporting achievement, retention and academic success.
• Assessment & Progress Monitoring - Plan and assess learning effectively, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate records of progress, and produce student reports to support continuous improvement.
• Curriculum Development & Enrichment - Contribute to curriculum development, organise enrichment activities such as trips, visits and guest speakers, and help enhance the overall Sixth Form student experience.
• Student Engagement & College Representation - Motivate and inspire learners, participate in parents’ evenings and promotional events, and actively support the promotion of the Sixth Form and wider College.
• Compliance, Collaboration & Professional Development - Support College-wide activities including exams and events, maintain health and safety standards, and promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, and continuous professional development.

• Qualifications & Teaching Expertise - Holds a relevant degree and teaching qualification, with current A Level teaching experience, a strong track record of success, and up-to-date knowledge of subject content, curricula, and teaching methodologies.
