Qualifications

• Proven supervisory experience in bespoke, architectural, or high-end metalwork.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal, fabrication, MIG/TIG welding, forming and finishing.
• Advanced ability to read complex engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with workshop machinery such as brake presses and guillotines.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily workshop operations, managing workflow, labour and timelines.
• Provide technical guidance and solve fabrication/assembly challenges.
• Oversee quality control to meet architectural specifications.
• Mentor and supervise skilled fabricators and welders.
• Enforce safety standards and coordinate with design and production teams.

Salary: Competitive / Negotiable

Location: Basildon, Essex

Hours: Mon–Fri, 8.00am – 5.00pm | Permanent

An established architectural metalwork specialist in Basildon is seeking a Senior Metalwork Supervisor to lead daily workshop operations and deliver high-quality bespoke fabrication projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Workshop Leadership: Lead daily workshop operations, managing workflow, labour, and timelines.
• Technical Guidance: Interpret technical drawings and solve fabrication/assembly challenges.
• Quality Control: Oversee standards to ensure components meet strict architectural specifications.
• Team Management: Mentor and supervise skilled fabricators and welders.
• Safety & Coordination: Enforce H&S standards while liaising with Design and Production teams.

Key Requirements

• Proven supervisory experience in bespoke, architectural, or high-end metalwork.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal, structural fabrication, MIG/TIG welding, forming, and finishing.
• Advanced capability to read complex engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with workshop machinery (brake press, guillotine) and metals like mild/stainless steel, brass, and bronze.
