Job summary

HSBC Global Services Limited is seeking an experienced investment research professional to initiate and maintain coverage on 12-15+ South African and EMEA metals and mining stocks. You will analyze companies and industry structures, build robust financial models, and produce high-quality publications for internal and external clients.

The role involves collaborating with the global metals & mining team to articulate differentiated views on commodities.

Qualifications

• Experience in investment research on sell-side or buy-side or related strategy/consulting roles.
• Strong financial modelling, accounting and valuation capability with attention to detail.
• Apply structured research methods to interpret fundamentals and competitive dynamics across sectors.
• Use data and modern research tools to improve productivity and deepen analysis.
• Communicate investment insights clearly in writing and discussions with teams and clients.
• Maintain high standards of confidentiality, compliance and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain coverage on 12-15+ SA and EMEA metals and mining stocks.
• Research companies, industry structures, competitive dynamics and key commodity drivers.
• Build and maintain financial models, analytical frameworks and industry databases.
• Publish high-quality research publications for internal and external clients.
• Formulate differentiated views on commodities in partnership with the global team.
• Evaluate information critically and verify sources to strengthen conclusions.
• Collaborate with Sales, Corporate Access and wider research platform to support client engagement.
