We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health Team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. Ideally the candidate should be a car driver due to the location of the prison.

HMP Wymott has capacity of around 1,100, and has a varied and complex population.

You will be working as part of a mental health team of 14. The Mental Health team have their own offices within the Healthcare department, however clinics will also be based on the wings.

Hours:

Monday - Sunday - 37.5 hours per week

8am - 4pm

1 in 4 weekends

4 week rolling rotaSalary:

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609 - £49,175 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Responsible for assessment and ongoing management of our patients’ mental health needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team as an autonomous practitioner managing a caseload of patients, assessing their physical, social and psychological needs to develop a holistic healthcare plan.
  • Contribute to our nursing strategy and vision: Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, building therapeutic relationships and promoting professional boundaries.
  • Play an active part in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient’s care following our policies and procedures and always considering safeguarding.

Occupational Therapist or Social Worker - HCPC / NMC Registered

Experience of working within mental health settings, developing knowledge and understanding of this patient group

Evidence of Continued Professional Development

Experience of working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders in a multi-disciplinary environment. Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
