Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant Medical Oncologist to join the Oncology department at Royal Preston Hospital on a full-time permanent basis.

The post includes 10 programmed activities, with responsibilities across systemic therapies, radiotherapy collaboration, and leadership within the site’s cancer services, with a strong emphasis on teaching and audit.

Qualifications

• Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice.
• MBBS or equivalent; holds CCT or equivalent or within 6 months.
• Must be entered on the Specialist Register for Medical Oncology on date of taking appointment (or entry within 6 months).
• Higher research or educational degree.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive Oncology service together with Consultant colleagues and provide Oncology expertise in the management and development of site specialist cancer services.
• Collaborate with colleagues within the department to develop Oncology services.
• Work with and support the established multi‑disciplinary site‑specific teams.
• Liaise closely with surgeons, physicians and staff in other specialities and within the Trusts.
• Support the service during Consultant colleagues’ leave.Provide supervision and management of junior medical staff.
• Undertake teaching, examination and accreditations duties as requires and contribute to postgraduate andcontinuing education both locally and nationally.
• Undertake clinical audit, continuing medical education, contribute to the annual appraisal process and undertakeannual job planning review.
• Undertake research.
