Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager for complex energy projects across the UK, with a mechanical/building services foundation and progression into senior project and commercial management.

Lead multi-disciplinary M&E teams, manage budgets and client relationships, and drive projects from pre-construction to handover on major multi-million-pound schemes in energy, decarbonisation and district energy sectors.

Senior Mechanical Project Manager - Energy

The Role

We are working with a growing UK engineering contractor looking for an experienced mechanically biased Project Manager to support major projects across its Energy division.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from pre-construction and mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
• Take responsibility for programme, budget, commercial performance and project delivery.
• Manage mechanical packages alongside electrical, civils and specialist subcontractors.
• Coordinate Design, Commercial, Procurement and site delivery teams.
• Manage subcontractors, suppliers and project resources.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
• Manage project risks, variations, forecasting and cost control.
• Oversee installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Support tendering and pre-construction activities.
• Provide leadership and support to Project Managers and site teams.

Experience Required

• Strong background within mechanical engineering, M&E or building services.
• Proven Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Project Director experience.
• Experience delivering complex, multi-million-pound projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services and associated plant.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary M&E projects.
• Strong commercial awareness including budgets, forecasting and variations.
• Experience managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
• Strong client and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience taking projects through the full lifecycle from pre-construction to handover.
• Experience within energy, decarbonisation, renewables, BESS, Solar PV, district energy, HVAC or critical infrastructure would be particularly relevant.
