Job Description:

Senior Mechanical Project Manager – Salary up to £105,000 plus Travel, Healthcare, and Pension.

Location: Oxford

They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead the Mechanical element on a fast and complex project in Oxford. Based in an ever-growing science park, this scheme involves a £4m Mechanical package on a private hospital facility.

Preconstruction has begun, with installation starting around Q3 2025. The successful candidate will manage the project from pre-construction through to handover. Key responsibilities include relationship management, team coordination, and project reporting. The role will be supported by engineers, construction managers, and supervisors.

Role/Responsibilities:

• Design Management (reviewing designs and liaising with clients, main contractors, and consultants)
• Procurement of subcontractors, equipment, and materials
• RFIs – Liaison with clients, main contractors, and subcontractors
• Value Engineering where applicable
• Programming of works – using MS Project or Asta Project
• Health & Safety management (RAMs)
• Commercial responsibilities, including assisting with subcontractor variation accounts alongside the project-specific Quantity Surveyor
• Management of variations
• Team coordination (overseeing junior engineers, construction managers, and supervisors)
• Progress meetings with subcontractors, clients, and internal teams
• Overseeing commissioning stages
• Formulation of OM Manuals and client handover

The ideal candidate:

• Will be experienced in fast-paced environments
• Has commercial sector experience
• Has managed projects of at least £6M within their discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior management role
• Preferably subcontracted to main contractors such as ISg, Lend Lease, Sir Robert McAlpine, and Mace
• Shows longevity in previous employment
