Job summary

Vertu FM is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead building services delivery on a new-build residential scheme from Newcastle-under-Lyme with occasional site travel. The role is permanent, full-time, and includes a company car allowance and a competitive package.

You will manage programmes, resources and subcontractors, review technical docs, monitor progress and risks, and ensure quality from handover to final account.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Building Services or equivalent.
• Proven experience managing mechanical building-services projects within construction.
• SMSTS qualification and CSCS Management Card.
• Strong client communication, leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical building services projects from pre-construction handover through practical completion and final account.
• Plan and manage programmes, project resources, subcontractors and the supply chain.
• Review drawings, technical specifications, contracts and project requirements.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, resolve site issues and protect milestones and budgets.
• Coordinate procurement, plant, materials, project variations and cost control with commercial teams.
• Chair or attend client, consultant and site progress meetings and maintain effective communication.
• Oversee quality inspections, RAMS, Health & Safety standards, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Maintain project records and support the development of engineers and supervisors.

We are working with a reputable and growing mechanical and electrical contractor delivering building services packages on construction projects.

Due to continued growth, they are recruiting into their projects team. This senior role leads mechanical building services delivery on a new-build residential scheme, working alongside the electrical site manager.

The Role:

• Lead mechanical building services projects from pre-construction handover through practical completion and final account.
• Plan and manage programmes, project resources, subcontractors and the supply chain.
• Review drawings, technical specifications, contracts and project requirements.
• Monitor progress, manage risks, resolve site issues and protect milestones and budgets.
• Coordinate procurement, plant, materials, project variations and cost control with commercial teams.
• Chair or attend client, consultant and site progress meetings and maintain effective communication.
• Oversee quality inspections, RAMS, Health & Safety standards, testing, commissioning and handover.
• Maintain project records and support the development of engineers and supervisors.

The Person:

• NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Building Services or a related discipline.
• Proven experience managing mechanical building-services projects within construction.
• Strong mechanical technical knowledge and commercial/project-delivery awareness.
• SMSTS qualification and CSCS Management Card.
• Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour, procurement, budgets and programmes.
• Strong client communication, leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable attending sites as required and holding a full UK driving licence.

The Package:

• Salary £61,000–£71,000 DOE inc company car allowance
• £6,000 car allowance (inc in salary above)
• Permanent, full-time position.
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
