Job summary

Bilfinger Berger SE is seeking a senior Mechanical/ piping Lead Engineer in Warrington, UK. You will lead the mechanical and piping design for multi-discipline EPCM/EPC projects, from concept to execution, across industries such as Oil & Gas and utilities.

You will ensure quality, mentor a team, and maintain compliance with UK standards and PED/PESR requirements. The role requires Chartered Engineer status (preferred), IGEM/industry standards experience, and strong coordination with civil,

Qualifications

Hold an engineering qualification in Mechanical Engineering to Degree level (BEng or MEng).
Demonstrable experience as Lead / Principal Engineer in multi-discipline projects.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) with IMechE or equivalent (preferred).
Experience working to engineering standards and specifications, and IGEM standards (preferred).
Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and applying them to design projects.
Understanding of responsibilities of Civil, Structural, EC&I and Process disciplines.
Ability to develop and contribute to mechanical specs, basis of design, scope of works, drawings, 3D models, schedules, vendor bids, risk assessments and safety studies.
Experience applying piping and vessel design codes to ASME and BS EN standards.
Oversight of mechanical equipment packages from external vendors.
Experience with CDM regulations, PED, and PESR requirements.
A client-accepted design is essential to you.

Responsibilities

Report to mechanical & piping engineering manager and project engineering manager(s).
Lead mechanical and piping engineering and design across EPCM/EPC projects from concept to execution design.
Deliver projects across Oil & Gas, Renewable Natural Gas, Utilities.
Ensure quality and approval of design deliverables by competent persons.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
Ensure designs comply with UK regulations and standards.
Complete mechanical and piping design within scope, time, and budget constraints.
Communicate changes to scope or design effectively.
Provide mechanical input into change events, warnings, and estimates.
Lead and participate in internal and external design reviews.
Make independent design decisions and provide expert technical support.
