A leading contractor in water infrastructure projects is seeking a Senior Mechanical Estimator. The role involves remote work with occasional travel, developing estimates for significant projects. Ideal candidates will have a mechanical background and experience in the water sector, contributing to essential UK infrastructure over the next five years.

Qualifications

• Estimating experience in the water sector required.
• Experience on clean/wastewater capital maintenance schemes.
• Familiarity with NEC contracts and estimating tools is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Develop bottom-up and top-down estimates for mechanical works (£5m–£250m projects).
• Review drawings, specs & scoping docs to build accurate cost models.

Job Description:

? Home-based with occasional travel

We’re working with a Tier 1 contractor delivering major water infrastructure projects as part of AMP8. They’re expanding their pre-construction team and looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join them on a remote basis.

? What you’ll do:

• Develop bottom-up and top-down estimates for mechanical works (£5m–£250m projects)
• Review drawings, specs & scoping docs to build accurate cost models
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors
• Benchmark using cost curves and SORs
• Support pricing strategy, risk identification, and tender preparation

? What you’ll need:

• Mechanical discipline background + estimating experience in the water sector
• Experience working on clean/wastewater or capital maintenance schemes
• Familiarity with NEC contracts & estimating tools (CCS Candy = bonus)
• Great commercial awareness + strong attention to detail
