A leading contractor in the UK is looking for a Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their team working on major water infrastructure projects. This remote role requires expertise in mechanical estimating and the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and subcontractors. You will play a crucial role in shaping critical UK infrastructure while ensuring accurate cost estimation for projects ranging from £5m to £250m.

Job Description:

? Home-based with occasional travel

We’re working with a Tier 1 contractor delivering major water infrastructure projects as part of AMP8. They’re expanding their pre-construction team and looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join them on a remote basis.

? What you’ll do:

• Develop bottom-up and top-down estimates for mechanical works (£5m–£250m projects)
• Review drawings, specs & scoping docs to build accurate cost models
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors
• Benchmark using cost curves and SORs
• Support pricing strategy, risk identification, and tender preparation

? What you’ll need:

• Mechanical discipline background + estimating experience in the water sector
• Experience working on clean/wastewater or capital maintenance schemes
• Familiarity with NEC contracts & estimating tools (CCS Candy = bonus)
• Great commercial awareness + strong attention to detail
