Job summary

Parkinson Gray Associates is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Estimator for its Leeds operation. You will prepare detailed mechanical building services estimates from enquiry to final submission, reviewing drawings, specs and tender documents.

You will work within an established pre-construction team, obtain and evaluate quotes, identify risks and value engineering options, and contribute to compliant, competitive bids across commercial projects.

Qualifications

• Significant experience estimating mechanical building services for an M&E contractor.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender docs.
• Strong commercial awareness and risk management.
• Experience using mechanical estimating software.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Preparing detailed mechanical building services estimates for projects across a range of commercial construction sectors.
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications to establish project requirements.
• Producing accurate material, labour and subcontractor cost assessments.
• Obtaining and evaluating quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Identifying potential risks, opportunities and value engineering alternatives.
• Liaising with clients, consultants and internal project teams throughout the tender process.
• Attending tender review meetings and contributing to commercial and technical discussions.
• Preparing comprehensive tender submissions within agreed deadlines.
• Supporting post-tender negotiations and the successful handover of secured projects to the delivery team.
• Maintaining an awareness of current market conditions, labour rates and material costs.

The Opportunity

Parkinson Gray Associates is working with an established national Mechanical and Electrical Building Services Contractor to recruit a Senior Mechanical Estimator for its Leeds operation.

Our client is a highly respected name within the building services industry, with an excellent reputation for delivering technically challenging projects across a range of sectors.

With an established regional presence and a strong pipeline of opportunities, the business is looking to strengthen its pre-construction team through the appointment of an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator.

The Role

Working as part of an established pre-construction team, you will take responsibility for preparing accurate and competitive mechanical building services tenders, from initial enquiry through to final submission.

The Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator with a strong background in commercial building services contracting.

You will ideally have:

• Significant experience estimating mechanical building services installations for an M&E contractor.
• A comprehensive understanding of HVAC, heating, ventilation, domestic water and associated mechanical systems.
• Experience preparing estimates for medium to large-scale commercial construction projects.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the risks associated with mechanical contracting.
• Experience using mechanical estimating software.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously.
• The confidence to work independently and take ownership of the estimating process.
