Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Water team in Edinburgh or Glasgow. The role leads mechanical design across water and wastewater projects, from feasibility to commissioning, mentoring junior engineers and delivering robust technical solutions.

You will collaborate with Project Managers and specialists to ensure delivery of integrated, compliant designs. The position offers hybrid working, involvement in major Scottish water initiatives and opportunities for

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience delivering mechanical engineering projects within the UK water sector or another regulated infrastructure environment.
• Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, pumping stations and mechanical systems.
• Experience leading technical delivery across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Experience producing and reviewing technical calculations, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Experience mentoring or supporting the development of junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Leading mechanical design for water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations and associated infrastructure.
• Producing and reviewing technical calculations, specifications, schedules and engineering documentation.
• Working collaboratively with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Supporting site investigations, design reviews and construction activities where required.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Building strong working relationships with clients, contractors and delivery partners to ensure successful project outcomes.
