Job summary

GE Vernova in Stafford seeks a Mechanical Engineer to develop and analyze HVDC valve converters. You will perform stress analyses, create robust mechanical designs, and validate components through simulations and tests.

Based at the HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and partners, support industrialisation, and participate in verification activities, with possible international travel to GE sites and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with 3D CAD tools, preferably Creo 4.0 or over and Windchill PDMlink.
• Familiarity with FEA tools such as Creo Simulate or Ansys.
• Proficient with mechanical design to external standards (BSI, ISO, IEC, EN).
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to write technical notes.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical development and analysis of power electronic converter valves for HVDC.
• Perform mechanical engineering calculations and simulations, focusing on stress analysis of solids.
• Issue, review and approve drawings and design documentation.
• Carry out validation and contribute to testing reports.
