Job summary

GE Vernova in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to lead or support high-impact valve design projects. You will combine technical depth with business acumen and act as a technical authority during design reviews and testing.

The role requires a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, familiarity with LCC and VSC converters, and proficiency with CREO CAD. You will mentor colleagues and help ensure safety and compliance with IEC/IEEE/CIGRÉ standards.

Qualifications

Educated to degree level in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
Preferably also with higher education and a focus on Power Electronics, HV Engineering or Power Systems.
Deep understanding of Line Commutated Converters (LCC) and Voltage Source Converters (VSC).
Awareness of converter topologies, switching schemes, and control strategies

Responsibilities

Work with various teams to ensure robust, reliable valve design.
Support the Valve Engineering team to achieve this.
Ensure highest safety during testing or installation activities and document accordingly.
Take an approver role for design reviews, DFMEA, and act as technical authority for critical decisions.
Write and review technical documentation, specifications and reports.
Communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders, leadership and customers.
Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and develop team competency.
