Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead data centre design and delivery within Buildings & Places. You’ll act as a technical leader for data centre projects, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams and geographies to drive complex schemes for hyperscale and co-location clients.

The role requires chartered status or equivalent, experience in data centre design and project management, fluency with Revit and digital design workflows, and a track record of delivering high‑profile

Qualifications

• Degree in Architecture, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer or Accredited Tier Professional.
• Working knowledge of Revit and digital design workflows.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Experience in data centre design and/or project management.
• Proven experience working on complex data centre projects.
• Strong understanding of permitting processes, building systems, regulations, and construction methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Undertake the technical delivery experience on data centre projects for technology firms.
• A proven track record of successful project delivery as a Mechanical Data Centre Engineer.
• The ability to lead technical teams and collaborate across geographies.
• Ambition to contribute to thought leadership and strategic growth.
• Working towards Chartered status Engineer or Architect (or equivalent professional qualification).
• Experience in data centre design and/or project management.
• Proven experience working on complex data centre projects.
• Strong understanding of permitting processes, building systems, regulations, and construction methodologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Willingness to travel as required.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
