Job summary

Baily Garner LLP in Birmingham is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical outputs for the Mechanical & Electrical team. You will guide intermediate, assistant and trainee engineers, ensuring drawings, specs and schedules meet design requirements and QA standards.

The role covers site surveys through to tender packages, commissioning and final testing, with hybrid working available and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years post-qualification experience in a building services consultancy.
• Membership of CIBSE or equivalent or senior-level competence.
• Experience checking designs by junior engineers to maintain high output standards.
• Ability to produce mechanical specifications, calculation files and schedules that comply with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret client requirements and statutory obligations to design building services.
• Maintain detailed project documentation including calculations and correspondence.
• Ensure designs comply with regulations, procedures and standards.
• Collaborate with internal and external design teams in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Prepare detailed specifications, drawings and schedules for electrical services.
• Review and verify design work by engineers and assistants.
• Conduct site surveys, commissioning and testing as required.
• Prepare budget estimates, cost plans, tender documents and contracts.
