Job summary

Connect2Luton, on behalf of Luton Borough Council, seeks a Senior Mechanical Services Engineer to lead mechanical design for diverse projects, from new builds to refurbishments. You will ensure environmental, regulatory, and financial criteria are met, while delivering CAD drawings, specifications, and bids.

You will manage contractor work, supervise design programmes, perform site surveys, and prepare technical reports for lifecycle planning.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in Mechanical Services Engineering.
• Experience in contract administration and tendering.
• Ability to use Hevacomp and related software for calculations.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional mechanical design services to new build and refurbishment projects within the Borough.
• Ensure compliance with legislative, sustainable design, commissioning, financial and programme criteria.
• Prepare mechanical budgets, carry out design and prepare CAD drawings and specifications.
• Invite and evaluate competitive tenders, inspect and commission mechanical installations on site.
• Evaluate tenders and financial accounts; maintain mechanical standards and final certification.
• Provide advice to client departments and building managers on development and maintenance of properties.
• Monitor standards to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring mechanical design programmes with team and external consultants.
• Carry out site surveys and prepare reports on condition, capacity and lifecycle cost.
