Job summary

Nicholas Associates in Birmingham is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join an established MEP building services consultancy. You will contribute to design and specification of HVAC, heating, ventilation and water services across commercial, residential, healthcare and education projects.

The role offers hybrid working, ongoing training and support toward Chartership, and a platform to deliver projects from concept to completion while ensuring compliance with UK regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Experience in an MEP consultancy or building services environment.
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and relevant British Standards.
  • Experience using Hevacomp, IES, Revit, AutoCAD or similar.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Working towards Chartered status (desirable).

Responsibilities

  • Design and specification of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, heating, ventilation and domestic water services.
  • Produce calculations, technical reports and design drawings.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and project teams.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits as required.
  • Support projects from concept through to completion.
  • Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.
  • Contribute to delivering projects on time and within budget.

The Opportunity

An established and growing MEP Building Services Consultancy in Birmingham is looking to appoint a Mechanical Engineer to join its dynamic design team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who is looking to develop their career across a diverse range of projects including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, and mixed-use developments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and specification of mechanical building services systems including:
  • HVAC
  • Heating systems
  • Ventilation
  • Domestic water services
  • Public health systems
  • Produce calculations, technical reports, and design drawings.
  • Work closely with electrical engineers and wider project teams.
  • Attend client meetings and site visits where required.
  • Support projects from concept through to completion.
  • Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards.
  • Contribute to delivering projects on time and within budget.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
