Job summary

Build Recruitment Limited is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their client’s team in Reading or Oxford. You will lead mechanical design activities across varied projects within the built environment and help drive sustainability and quality improvements.

Key responsibilities include delivering detailed design, coordinating with structural engineers, architects, and contractors, and using CAD and BIM tools to model building services.

Qualifications

• Accredited Building Services degree or higher qualification and significant experience in a similar role.
• Chartered or working towards chartered engineer status is preferred.
• Excellent communication to liaise with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver detailed design as part of a design team.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors.
• Attend project group and technical meetings.
• Ensure building systems meet legislative and health & safety requirements.
• Advise on energy use and conservation to minimise carbon footprint.

My client, a very reputable Built and Environmental Consultancy is looking for Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team and help lead the way in transforming the quality and sustainability of the built environment. As the demand for the expertise continues to grow, they now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a significantly experienced and talented Engineering Team based at their Reading office (there is also have a further role in Oxford)

Client lists include Education, commercial, retail, industrial, leisure and many more. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer,you will be exposed to many sectors and many cultures. Building services engineers design, install and maintain the services that are needed to allow the building to do what it’s designed to.

What you need to do to be effective in this role

• Working as part of a design team delivering detailed design
• Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams
• Attending a range of project group and technical meetings
• Ensuring that the design and maintenance of building systems meets legislative and health and safety requirements
• Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimise the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint
• Designing site-specific equipment as required
• Overseeing and supervising the installation of building systems and specifying maintenance and operating procedures
• Using specialist computer-aided design (CAD) and BIM (Revit) software and other resources to design the systems required for the project.

The skills and experience you need to have for this role

To be successful in this role you will have an accredited Building Services degree or higher educational qualification and significant experience in a similar role. Ideally chartered or working towards chartered engineer status. You will need to be an excellent communicator who can articulate complicated issues between clients and their highly skilled project teams. You will also need to show ambition and a willingness to learn whilst demonstrating a high level diligence and organisational skills
