Job summary

Rivan Industries seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own an entire sub-system, driving design, integration, and manufacturability. You will tackle reactors, electrolyser, or DAC modules, crafting concept generation, test rigs, and supplier coordination.

The role requires responsibility under tight deadlines and hands-on fabrication experience. Based at our Bermondsey HQ in South-East London, you’ll benefit from extensive relocation support and equity options as part of early-team compensation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional mechanical engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical/aero or related field.
• Experience with CAD and design for manufacture/assembly, specification and procurement.
• Hands-on workshop fabrication and build experience.
• Solid understanding of thermofluids including heat and mass transfer.
• Experience with Python, FEA, CFD for modelling or analysis.
• Ability to design and run test setups, perform experiments and analyze data.

Responsibilities

• Own the concept generation, architecting and technical requirements capture.
• Design test-rigs to validate hypotheses quickly and cheaply.
• Own and iterate the design drawings with the fabrication workshop.
• Own the assembly, integration, commissioning and test plans of the sub-system.
• Liaise with external vendors to support the production line.

Engineering at Rivan is about taking technologies that are conventionally treated as low volume, bespoke, and expensive, and rethinking them completely to be mass manufactured, standardised, and ultra low cost. We're looking for a talented Senior Mechanical Engineer to own one of our sub-systems to drive that forward, tasked with uncovering new ways of thinking about our system integration, performance, longevity, and manufacturability. The role

Own the design and manufacture of an entire Rivan sub-system

This role can be across any of our modules, be it reactor, electrolyser and DAC. You could be designing our next electrolyser stack, creating welding drawings for our next in-house built reactor, or designing sheet metal parts for our carbonation bed. We need you to:

• Own the concept generation, architecting and technical requirements capture
• Design test-rigs to validate underlying hypothesis quickly and cheaply
• Own and iterate the design drawings with our fabrication workshop
• Own the assembly, integration, commissioning and test plans of that sub-system
• Liaise with external vendors to support our production line

Core skills

• 5+ years professional experience
• Bachelor's or Masters in mechanical/aero or related field
• System design experience including CAD (SolidWorks), design for manufacture/assembly, and part specification and procurement
• Hands on workshop fabrication and build experience
• Fundamental thermofluids understanding, including pressure loss, heat and mass transfer
• Simulation/analytical modelling competency (e.g. python, FEA, CFD)
• Test setup design, running of experiments, and data analysis
