The ideal candidate has 5+ years' experience in mechanical building services, with Chartered status progression and proficiency in CAD/MagicCAD/BIM. Hybrid working, competitive salary, and clear career progression are offered.

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

Location: Cardiff / Bristol
Type: Full–time, Permanent
Salary: 45,000 – 60,000 (dependent on experience)

Overview

An established building services consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing team in either Cardiff or Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with at least five years' experience in mechanical building services design who is looking to lead projects, mentor junior engineers, and work closely with clients to deliver innovative, low–carbon engineering solutions across a diverse range of sectors.

The successful candidate will have proven project leadership experience, a strong understanding of UK building services legislation, regulations and industry standards, and technical expertise in HVAC, heating and cooling load calculations, public health design, plantroom design, BMS integration, and sustainable technologies including heat pumps and renewables. Membership with CIBSE (or working towards it), together with progress towards Chartered Engineer status and proficiency in CAD, MagicCAD and BIM software, would be highly advantageous.

Day–to–Day

• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to deliver coordinated designs.
• Develop detailed mechanical designs, specifications, and reports.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical input to ensure project objectives are met.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Support the development of innovative, sustainable, and energy–efficient solutions for clients.
• Mentor and support junior team members, sharing knowledge and expertise.
