Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer in its London office to lead the design of mechanical systems for high-tech facilities, initially data centres and telecoms. You will work within a global facilities services team, advising clients and coordinating with architects and engineers.

The role requires a bachelor or equivalent with extensive experience in 2D/3D design, AutoCAD, MicroStation and Excel, and a collaborative, client-facing approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree or equivalent with 8–9 years of related experience is required.
• Expert understanding of AutoCAD, MicroStation and Excel for design deliverables.
• Proficient in 2D/3D engineering drawings and related design software.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on mechanical systems and safety code compliance.
• Design mechanical systems and equipment to meet client needs.
• Develop design criteria for air and water side building systems.
• Peer review designs and write system specifications.
• Coordinate with Architect and Structures teams; prepare technical reports.
• Monitor installation to ensure design and safety compliance.
• Lead project teams and participate in bid technical solutions.
