Job summary

IN2 Engineering Design Partnership in Belfast seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead MEP design across commercial projects, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with clients and specialist teams. You will drive concept-to-delivery design, ensure compliance with regulations, and deliver high-quality solutions within a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ consultancy-based design experience on commercial MEP projects.
• Level 8 Degree in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering (chartered status or ability to apply within 18 months).
• Extensive knowledge of mechanical engineering standards, building regulations, and HVAC, water services, drainage design.
• Proficiency in mechanical design software: Hevacomp, AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks.
• Experience designing commercial mechanical projects and working within design teams.
• Strong report writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft applications.
• Chartered Engineer status or ability to demonstrate competencies to apply within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design on projects from concept to delivery.
• Collaborate closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ensure high-quality engineering solutions are developed and implemented.
• Support management in client relationships.
• Manage project costs and prepare client cost reports related to mechanical installations.
• Develop BCAR Inspection plans and monitor installation quality and progress.
• Attend site meetings, carry out inspections, and review contractors’ submittals.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and knowledge dissemination.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians for coordinated designs.
