Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop designs to ensure effective delivery of project objectives.
• Establish clear performance expectations and support team members through mentoring and development.
• Plan resources and prioritise to ensure optimum utilisation and project delivery.
• Champion collaboration, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Support recruitment and talent development within the department.
• Provide technical oversight and governance across all mechanical activities.
• Review, approve, and sign off design solutions per procedures and standards.
• Ensure designs comply with legislation, standards, and client specs.
• Lead design risk assessments to identify and mitigate project risks.
• Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and sustainable practices.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating to identify opportunities.
• Support bid strategies with innovative design and value engineering.
• Provide technical leadership during tender submissions and client engagements.
• Assist estimating teams in achieving cost-effective designs.
• Engage with clients and stakeholders to drive order conversions.
• Manage the design development process from concept to handover.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Implement standardized design procedures and QA processes.
• Oversee Design to Operations handover for seamless delivery.
• Monitor design progress, programme compliance and deliverable quality.
• Collaborate with Operations and Commercial teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Attend project reviews, pre-start meetings and design workshops.
• Conduct site surveys and technical inspections to support validation.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and close-out stages.
• Lead the evaluation of new products and technologies and drive improvements.
• Promote digital engineering and modern construction methods.
• Drive lessons learned and implement improvements across projects.
• Promote Health & Safety by Design principles and ensure risk is mitigated.
