A leading nuclear engineering firm in Blackburn is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Fusion and Modular Nuclear Business Unit. You will develop fluid systems, create 2D and 3D CAD drawings, and ensure compliance with safety standards while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. The ideal candidate has strong experience in CAD systems such as AutoCAD and Solidworks, and must meet UK security clearance criteria. Qualifications

• Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role.
• Collaborative team player with engineering teamwork skills.
• Proficient in 2D CAD systems for precise drawings.
• Skilled in 3D CAD/BIM systems for dynamic models.
• Professionally qualified in an engineering-related field.
• SC Clearance or capability to achieve it.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D CAD drawings and PFDs.
• Prepare 3D CAD/BIM models for plant layouts.
• Perform layout optimization engineering.
• Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
• Ensure compliance with design safety factors and specifications.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Maintain records of the design process.
• Manage databases for CAD/BIM design documentation.
• Report status and updates to management.
• Support the team in meeting quality, time, and budget constraints.
• Mediate issues with stakeholders and ensure effective solutions.
• Adhere to H&S policies and project standards.
