Job summary

Verso Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own complex mechanical systems from concept through to production for special purpose machinery in Surrey. This on-site, permanent role offers exposure to high‑integrity, performance‑critical products.

You will lead the mechanical design of automation assemblies, produce high quality 3D models using SolidWorks, Creo, or Inventor, and drive prototyping, testing and validation while collaborating with electronics,

Qualifications

• Proven experience in special-purpose machinery and automation.
• Strong 3D CAD proficiency and engineering documentation standards.
• Solid understanding of materials, tolerances and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of assemblies and components for automation with complex moving parts.
• Produce high-quality 3D models and detailed drawings using a modern CAD package.
• Drive concept development, prototyping, testing and design validation.
• Collaborate with electronics, manufacturing and systems engineering.
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety and compliance requirements.

Salary: £50,000 to £65,000 basic + benefits

A leading engineering organisation in Surrey is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of complex mechanical systems from concept through to production. Key Responsibilities - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Lead the mechanical design of assemblies and components involving automation/complex moving parts.
• Produce high‑quality 3D models and detailed drawings using a modern 3D CAD package (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar)
• Drive concept development, prototyping, testing, and design validation
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including electronics, manufacturing, and systems engineering
• Ensure designs meet performance, safety, and compliance requirements

About You - Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

• Proven experience in special-purpose machinery with experience designing automation products/systems. Complex moving parts etc
• Strong proficiency with 3D CAD tools and engineering documentation standards
• Solid understanding of materials, tolerances, manufacturing processes, and mechanical engineering best practices
• Proactive, hands‑on approach to problem solving
