Job summary

Major Energy Onshore is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work on complex engineering projects in Northumberland. You will lead conceptual and detailed design for mechanical equipment, coordinate with stakeholders and integrate electrical and hydraulic aspects.

The role focuses on delivering fabrication drawings, overseeing manufacturing in the supply chain, and supporting testing and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with 3D CAD design and FEA software.
• Experience in high risk industries such as oil & gas, offshore wind, process plant, nuclear or power generation environments.

A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is sought to work on complex Engineering projects in Northumberland

Working as part of an agile team, you will deliver challenging engineering projects across our three core services of engineering, consultancy equipment design and build, and testing services. You will also participate in the development of best practice and engineering capability, support the development of engineers within the team, and give input to the company's technical direction

Duties will include:

• Completion of engineering consultancy studies, generation of reports
• Collation of requirements, management of project stakeholders

• Detailed engineering leading to the generation of equipment drawings and specifications
• Oversight of equipment manufacture in the supply chain, focusing on technical compliance

• Potential to lead installation and commissioning of equipment on clients sites

YOUR SKILLS

The ideal candidate will have a Degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience of using 3D CAD Design and FEA software tools. You will need experience in high risk industries such as oil & gas, offshore wind, process plant, nuclear or power generation environments.

You will need strong track record in delivery of high complexity engineering projects through various phases including concept design production of detailed designs and compiling client specifications. You will need good 3D CAD skills using Inventor, Solidworks, CREO or similar, be able to design from first principles, use hand-calculations, carry out finite element analysis (FEA) and produce manufacture drawings (specifically fabrications and machined components)

Innovative problem solving and solution design skills are needed as is the ability to deliver projects, interact with suppliers and ne able to manage multiple external stakeholders and communicate complex subjects to project stakeholders and have strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Chartered Status would be an advantage.
