KBM Resourcing Ltd. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our Rugby-based engineering team. You will lead mechanical design of large rotating equipment, including generators and turbines, and provide technical leadership across project phases.

Applicants should have a degree in mechanical engineering, extensive experience with rotating machinery, and strong SolidWorks skills. The role offers on-site work with comprehensive benefits and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience with detailed design of rotating equipment (motors, generators, pumps, turbines) or similar.
• Strong diagnostics techniques, failure analysis and life assessment of machinery.
• Manufacturing, commissioning and service activities for large equipment experience.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead the mechanical design of machinery, including stators, rotors, assemblies, upgrades, and retrofit projects.
• Provide engineering leadership across all project phases, working closely with clients and stakeholders.
• Use simulation and modelling tools to validate performance and compliance with requirements.
• Oversee and participate in testing activities, both in–factory and on–site.
• Carry out diagnostics, condition analysis, and life–cycle evaluations, producing clear technical reports.
• Deliver service and maintenance support to ensure reliability and long–term asset performance.
• Partner with tendering and project management teams on bids, proposals, and execution.
• Develop and implement test methodologies for dynamic machinery testing, analysing performance data.
• Perform root cause analysis on machinery failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Produce repair instructions and technical documentation to guide the recovery of failed or degraded equipment.

An excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is now available to join a well–established Engineer Company based in Rugby. Reporting to the Head of Engineering you will play a key role providing expertise in the design, manufacture and repair of complex equipment with a specific focus on the development of large Hydro Generators. Ideally, you will have extensive mechanical design experience, working on complex projects involving rotating machinery such as generators, motors, turbines, pumps or similar.

Responsibilities:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Experience with detailed design of rotating equipment (motors, generators, pumps, turbines) or similar.
• String background using Solidworks.
• Skilled in diagnostics techniques, failure analysis and life assessment of machinery.
• Manufacturing, commissioning and service activities for large equipment experience.
• Strong problem–solving skills with a practical, hand–on approach.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Remuneration:

• 70K DOE
