Job Description:

Description:

Experienced Senior Mechanical Design professional required within an established and highly successful automation and materials handling solutions specialist environment. Our client is part of an established Group that specialise in the provision of bespoke materials handling solutions to a diverse range of customers and industry sectors worldwide. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated Senior Design Engineer to complement their established and professional project design engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager and required to liaise extensively with other departmental managers in the course of design delivery including Sales, Service, Purchasing, Production and Projects as well as the customer, the successful candidate will be tasked with creating bespoke designs or existing system updates on a range of company products and solutions using Inventor for 3D modelling and producing 2D drawings for manufacturing. Core responsibilities will include utilising Inventor for both 2D drawings (manufacturing and assembling products) and 3D modelling for components and assemblies as well as AutoCad LT for 2d layout work – and it is envisaged that the successful candidate will essentially demonstrate at least 3 years’ experience in the design of machines, sheet metal and machined parts using both the Inventor package for 3D modelling and be a proficient and confident AutoCad user. You will be responsible for the preparation of product manuals with technical details that will be issued with the machines, and will compile relevant Engineering documentation such as spares lists or test reports, carrying out Engineering calculations as necessary and ensuring that all designs are compliant with relevant legislation and associated standards (e.g. ISO and H&S). You will utilise “Opera” to create bills of materials and will be instrumental in the development of new products through research activity, liaising closely with Production to ensure that the solutions are fit for purpose and with the Procurement team to ensure that parts are bought, delivered on time and to the required standard. To be considered for this varied and challenging design role it is essential that the successful candidate demonstrates exceptional communication skills at all levels and a flexible approach to travel, as the role necessitates occasional visits to customer sites and working away from home to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction, and an organised and methodical manner of working in order to pick up and change between multiple projects as determined by schedule changes and business priorities. A full UK driving licence is therefore also essential for the position. In return, an attractive remuneration package and benefits are available – as well as the opportunity to join a genuinely enthusiastic and friendly environment and team that looks after their staff as well as their customers.
