Job summary

Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing North East team, with opportunities in Newcastle or Stockton-on-Tees. You will deliver robust building services designs across commercial, industrial, healthcare and education sectors, driving technical innovation and mentoring junior engineers.

With a degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering and at least five years of experience, you will manage projects, coordinate resources, and collaborate with clients

• Minimum of five years' relevant experience within a building services consultancy environment.
• Proven experience managing building services projects from concept through to completion.
• Ability to manage project resources, including engineering teams, project programmes, and financial performance.
• Experience mentoring or line managing graduate and apprentice engineers.
• Proficiency with industry-standard calculation software and AutoCAD.

Job description

An established engineering design consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing North East team, with opportunities available in either Newcastle or Stockton-on-Tees.

The consultancy provides professional design and advisory services across building services engineering, building performance, and low carbon design. They also offer specialist expertise in areas such as BIM and sustainable building solutions.

The Role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a key role within the building services team, contributing to both technical delivery and team development. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering mechanical design solutions, driving technical innovation, managing projects, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting the continued growth of the regional team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver mechanical building services designs from concept through to completion.

Projects span a diverse range of sectors including commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, retail, leisure, and historic buildings across both public and private sector clients.

What They're Looking For:

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• A minimum of five years' relevant experience within a building services consultancy environment.
• Proven experience managing building services projects from concept through to completion.
• Ability to manage project resources, including engineering teams, project programmes, and financial performance.
• Experience mentoring or line managing graduate and apprentice engineers.
• Proficiency with industry-standard calculation software and AutoCAD.
• Revit experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution (such as CIBSE) is preferred, although candidates actively working towards chartership will also be considered.
