Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, Colchester

Job Description:

Join MoneyGram Haas F1 Team as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and be part of our tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. We are the first American F1 team since 1986, and we continue to grow and strive for excellence.

Based in Maranello, Italy, your role will involve designing F1 chassis components and mechanical assemblies, contributing to our high-performance racing team.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Promote teamwork and effective communication between departments.
  2. Design of F1 chassis components and mechanical assemblies using solid and surface modeling, and 2D drawings.
  3. Design components including suspensions, wheels, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling systems, and equipment for car homologation and track-side management.
  4. Manage design mock-up activities.
  5. Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Team Leader.
Education and Work Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent required; Mechanical Engineer degree preferred. Minimum 6 years of work experience, with at least 3 in a professional motorsports environment or F1 companies.

Skills and Knowledge:
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Technical expertise in racing car design.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Teamwork and positive attitude.
Equipment and Applications:
  • Proficiency in CATIA; experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of composites.
  • Understanding of complex shipment and maintenance regulations.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Ability to work in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments, with occasional travel and flexible hours. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, manual dexterity, and working around machinery, race cars, and hazardous fluids.
