Job description

2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship… we’re just getting started. We don’t follow the status quo, we’re here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK, and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal, and hardworking team ambassadors. At MoneyGram Haas F1 Team – known within the paddock as the ‘family team’ – you’ll be involved in many different areas of the team, have much wider visibility across the business, and will be able to clearly see your contribution to our team.

Yes, you’ll learn from us, but we expect to learn from you too!

General Summary:

This position reports to the Design Team Leader or their designee; it is located in Maranello, Italy. Responsible for the design of F1 chassis-related components and mechanical assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Promote teamwork and effective communication to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
  2. Design of F1 chassis-related components and mechanical assemblies.
  3. Study and design components through solid modelling, surface modelling, and 2D drawing with the aim of obtaining high-performance, reliable solutions, and optimized sizing.
  4. Involved components include suspensions, wheels, hydraulic, fuel, and cooling systems, as well as equipment for car homologation and on-track management (e.g., legality checks, pit stop equipment).
  5. Manage the ‘design mock-up activity’ in the design office.
  6. Follow all safety regulations at all venues.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Team Leader or their designee.

Education and Work Experience:

GCSE, High School diploma or equivalent required. Further education including a Mechanical Engineering degree preferred. Minimum 6 years of work experience, with at least 3 in a professional motorsports environment or F1 companies.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent understanding of English.
  • Strong technical background in racing cars.
  • Ability to work to a high standard in stressful and time-sensitive situations.
  • Quick decision-making skills, approaching problems scientifically and analytically.
  • Ability to work well within a team at all levels.
  • Empathetic approach to colleagues and ability to integrate within a group environment.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and willingness to assist others.

Equipment and Applications:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (preferably CATIA), Microsoft Office, and ERP systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude with knowledge of composites is preferred.
  • Ability to follow complex regulations related to material shipment and facility maintenance.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Ability to prioritize and work methodically in high-pressure, time-sensitive environments. May require occasional domestic and international travel, long and flexible hours, including weekends. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, manual dexterity, and working around machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and fluids. All employees must comply with health and safety policies and legislation.

This job description may not detail all duties and responsibilities but includes those reasonably required by the manager.

At MoneyGram Haas F1 Team, we value diversity, inclusion, and our employees. We offer rewards, bonuses, and health programs to support our team. If you’re passionate about motorsport, technology, and teamwork, consider joining us to turn your passion into a profession.

Notice:

All employees must be security cleared to National Security Vetting standards. We support the NSV process. Typically, applicants should have been UK residents for the last 5 years. More info at https://www.caa.co.uk/Commercial-industry/Security/Vetting/National-security-vetting/. If not UK residents for 5 years, an overseas criminal records check may be required.
