  • Develop and manage budgets for mechanical delivery projects, forecasting expenditure and identifying cost optimisation opportunities
  • Negotiate contract terms, variations, and change orders with clients, ensuring commercial viability and risk mitigation
  • Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and delivery milestones, implementing corrective actions where necessary
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with public sector stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact for contract matters
  • Identify and manage commercial and operational risks, implementing mitigation strategies and escalating issues appropriately
  • Prepare regular performance reports, financial statements, and contract reviews for senior management

Your background should include hands‑on experience managing P&L and budgets for mechanical delivery contracts, with evidence of cost control and financial discipline. You are a natural leader who has successfully managed and developed teams of engineers, and you combine technical understanding with strong business management capabilities. Above all, you are someone who thrives in a results‑driven environment, balances commercial objectives with operational delivery, and brings integrity and professionalism to every client interaction.

Experience & Expertise Required

  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and develop technical teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly with senior public sector contacts
  • Commercial mindset with a focus on profitability, cost control, and financial accountability
  • Problem‑solver who can navigate complex contractual and operational challenges with pragmatism
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organisational and time management capabilities
  • Integrity and professionalism in all business dealings, with a commitment to ethical practice
  • Adaptability and resilience in a fast‑paced, dynamic contracting environment
