Job summary

GKN Aerospace in Luton seeks a Senior Materials Engineer with a strong background in non-metallic materials to support development of composite aero structures, ice protection systems, and transparency products. You will lead a transparency coatings validation project and later support production and obsolescence initiatives.

Required: Chemistry/Materials Science education (BSc/MSc), experience with polymers and coatings, and proven project leadership in an aerospace context.

Qualifications

• Specialist knowledge in polymer material science and processing.
• Experience with non-metallic polymers and transparency materials.
• Proven track record in leading technical projects in an industrial/ aerospace setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop manufacturing processes for transparent polymer and adhesive materials.
• Lead thin film polymer coatings projects and material obsolescence efforts.
• Interact with leadership and suppliers to manage testing, quality and schedule.
