Job summary

AG Barr Group seeks a Senior Material Planner in Cumbernauld to drive material availability for site production and lead supplier relationships. You will guide new project roll‑outs while minimising write-off costs, reporting to the Materials Planning leadership.

The role requires MRP discipline, supplier collaboration, and experience in fast-paced manufacturing. You will coach a Material Planner and contribute to continuous improvement across planning and inventory.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in material management and supply chain practices.
• Strong computer literacy with advanced spreadsheet skills.
• Proven track record managing supplier relationships and cross-functional comms.
• Direct line management or supervisory experience.
• Excellent problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Project management experience is desirable.
• Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or site-based SCM.
• Background in driving continuous improvement across planning and inventory.

Responsibilities

• MRP & order management: ensure POs are placed and materials arrive on time.
• Coordinate suppliers and internal teams to maintain steady material flow.
• Oversee material run-in/run-out for projects; mitigate stock write‑offs.
• Identify shortages and escalate supply risks to the Materials Planning Manager.
• Direct and develop a Material Planner; support wider planning teams.
• Evaluate workflows and propose improvements to boost efficiency.

What we’re looking for…

As a Senior Material Planner, you will drive material availability for site production, lead supplier relationships, and guide the seamless roll‑out of new project innovation while minimising write-off costs.

Your responsibilities will include...

• MRP & Order Management: Manage weekly MRP messages and outputs, ensuring purchase orders are placed, confirmations are logged, and raw materials arrive on time for production schedules.
• Supplier & Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the key contact for suppliers and internal teams, maintaining clear communication across the supply chain to maintain steady material flow.
• Project & NPI Support: Oversee material run-in and run-out for innovation, enterprise, and CapEx projects, collaborating with Project Managers to mitigate stock write‑off risks.
• Risk Escalation & Mitigation: Identify component shortages, evaluate impacts on site schedules, and proactively raise critical supply risks to the Materials Planning Manager.
• Team Leadership & Development: Directly manage, coach, and set clear priorities for a Material Planner while supporting peer development across the wider planning function.
• Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate supply chain workflows, proposing logical process enhancements to boost efficiency and support business targets.

What you’ll bring…

The successful candidate will have:

• Proven hands‑on experience in material management and supply chain practices, utilising ERP operating systems.
• Strong computer literacy with advanced spreadsheet management capabilities.
• Demonstrated track record of managing supplier relationships and cross‑functional communication at all organisational levels.
• Direct line management or supervisory experience with a commitment to coaching and developing direct reports.
• Exceptional problem‑solving and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise dynamic workloads and manage risk effectively.

And it would also be great if you can demonstrate:

• Project management experience, particularly around product lifecycle transitions and material run‑in/run‑out strategies.
• Experience operating within a fast‑paced manufacturing or site‑based supply chain environment.
• A background in driving continuous improvement initiatives across planning and inventory
