Job summary

Ocean Infinity is hiring a Senior Robotics Engineer to design, build and integrate core robotics software across our fleet of uncrewed marine vessels. You will work in the Robotics & Autonomy team, shaping platform capabilities for control, planning, and hardware interfaces.

You will lead architecture and integration efforts, mentor teammates and collaborate with product and operations to convert operational needs into scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • MSc/PhD in robotics, mechatronics, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong C++ developer with production-quality code.
  • Willing to occasionally travel for integration, testing and deployments.
  • Experience using ROS2 in production or field deployments.
  • Deep knowledge of robotics middleware concepts: nodes, topics, services, actions, transforms, launch/config systems.
  • Experience with hardware integration: sensors, actuators, embedded controllers, vessel interfaces.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation protocols: Modbus, TCP/IP, UDP, CAN, serial.
  • Knowledge of the Linux development environment and CI/CD practices.
  • Pragmatic engineering approach balancing quality and delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build ROS2 nodes, services, actions and launch configurations for vessel control and navigation.
  • Integrate robotics software with real hardware and third‑party systems.
  • Build reusable platform abstractions across vessels and payloads.
  • Hands-on lab testing, integration work and field deployments.
  • Debug deployed systems using logs, telemetry and replay tooling; drive to root cause.
  • Review peers' code, mentor teammates and unblock integration or architecture issues.
  • Collaborate with product and operations to translate needs into solutions.
  • Improve testing, observability and monitoring for robotics software.
